Hey, this week the new thing that I did was… I went to see The Sound of Music live at the Granada. The Granada is a local theater in town that hosts concerts and shows. It is a large, tall, and beautiful building, The name Granada suits it. When I was younger I used to love singing to the musical and honestly I still do! This musical is based on the real life of the Von Trapp family singers. They were a very well known group of singers following World War Two. Now there is many relatives of the Von Tripp family and there is even a hotel. This show was a very nice addition to my week and brightened up my day. I went with my best friend and our moms. We all really enjoyed it.
-as we were going in I had to through away my sparkling water which was a downside-

One thing that I found really interesting was that some songs in the live show are not in the movie version. The songs I had not heard yet added a new aspect to it and they were a nice surprise. The voices of all of the people were wonderful and gave me goose bumps. The lead Nun in the story had a very powerful voice that really stood out. I think that seeing the show in person was so much more energizing then watching it on the tv.
The Granada is doing a whole broadway themed season. They already did one show, Cinderella, and there are more to come like Legally Blond and Rent. If your interested you should go to their site and get some tickets, you wont regret it!

When I was there I also ran into some people that I used to be in a theater group with. Santa Barbara Youth Ensemble Theater. I enjoyed being able to talk about our opionions of the show and one of my friend’s mom was there and she told me that she wouldn’t let her kids see the second part of the musical when they were younger so that they didn’t see the darker parts of history too soon. I found this story hilarious, especially because they still haven’t finished it.
The Sound of Music is one of the most popular musicals of all time and it puts a smile on so many faces with its catchy music and its inspiring story line.
Now I have so many songs stuck in my head! What’s your favorite song from The Sound of Music?
Well that’s it for this week, till next time!
